Road Trip Pt.6 - Prada in the Desert

In case you've never heard of the place, Marfa is an amazing artistic oasis in west Texas. A small town that seems to pop up out of nowhere, it is filled with amazing design, galleries, studios and shops. And, if you drive a little ways out, you can see a Prada store built as an art piece on the side of the road. Complete with bullet holes in the glass. Marfa became what it is today because of the artist Donald Judd, who took over old army barracks and filled it with his series of milled aluminum boxes. The museum and exhibition space is now called the Chinati Foundation. Today, the galleries feature other artists as well, including traveling exhibits.

Even the signage is cool, with consistent fonts all over store fronts in town.
