A chair that follow you everywhere!

Modern Decor

Take a Seat, is the name of this chair, a project of  Jelte van Geest, dutch designer.    Was specially designed  for the Openbare Bibliotheek Endhoven, but this "robot-chair"  can be used in any library,  auditoriums and conference halls.  If you don’t watch this video you probably will not believe it, but this chair literally follow you everywhere, just by showing (to the chair) your library pass.  So, you will avoid to load one or several chairs from one place to other.

Wow… science fiction is almost reality, today like never before.

Fantastic! And they’re pretty, too. Little pet chairs…

Absolutely crazy i love it! fantastic idea but what about when the place gets busy? would the chair knock out people like in a bowling game, fighting its way to find its ‘master’? or will it get confused and actually ‘betray’ its master finding another one?

As for as creativity is concerned, this is a beautiful invention.
However, how much energy will it require for a person who is able to visit some facility, yet unable to move a chair?
Our dependency on technology that requires too much energy to manufacture such units has already created serious problems.
For instance most of the kitchen related work can be done with manual appliances, however we usually choose to use electronic appliances that have too many parts and use energy, even if it is electric, that require a much complicated infrastructure as compared to the simple human hand movement.
Nevertheless, the human genius must be encouraged to invent such products, on the same time the consumers must be aware of their own responsibilities to this planet.
