Courtney Skott
Courtney Skott grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and is a graduate from the Wood/Furniture program at the California College of the Arts. Courtney draws from diverse sources of inspiration such as industrial processes, antique forms, traditional textiles and new technology to create multi-layered, conceptual work that is beautiful and ornamental but above all functional. Unfortunately this amazing Plywood Chandelier is just a prototype and
not for sale yet. If there is any manufacturar out there who would be
interested in producing this spectacular Chandelier, please send
Courtney en email. I know a lot of readers would wish for a lamp like
that!
The Cloud Bed is inspired by Ming Dynasty-era Chinese alcove beds, and the idea of the bed as a "room within a room." Here the form is updated, and the mobility provided by the casters lends itself to flexible, open-plan contemporary living spaces. Very beautiful and couzy!
Another design by Courtney Skott is the Corrugated Bench. The screen-printed pattern is a Chantilly lace, deconstructed and re-formed into a repeat pattern based on the grain in the walnut veneer. Stunning don’t you think?
The Tree Stools recall the communal atmosphere of sitting around the campfire, but are built for the most elegant silk-upholstered living room. Courtney is also looking for a manufacturer for this prototype…please visit Courtney Skott 's website for more information.
