Modern Classics – Reborn

Categories: Architecture + Interiors

This is my first post on 2modern design talk.  I’m honored to be referred through Holly Deck of Decor8
as a guest blogger and am excited to be invited by Greg Finney of 2modern to join the
team of design enthusiasts here on design talk.
Every Saturday, I will post articles that highlight modern furniture I
come across while sourcing for clients.  I will offer advice from an interior design
perspective on what to look for when selecting
modern high-end furniture.

CASSINA showroom in New York during ICFF

During one of my trips to New York and in the process of sourcing modern high-end furniture for clients.    I had to visit one of my favorite modern furniture manufacturers – CASSINA USA.   Through a joint venture with Philippe Starck they have re-created the modern classics of leather tufting and straight lines in a new line of furniture called PRIVE.

With all the knock off furniture out there, it is great to see quality design at it’s finest be inventive and re-thought versus simply knocked-off.  The inspiration behind these modern pieces makes for a statement that represents what true"classic" means – timeless additions to an interior.  The design world is a full of new designs every day as well as design influenced by our past.  I love seeing new furniture lines that are unique in their finished product while also taking familiar classic detailing into a new light.  You can view more of the furniture as shown in my modern inspiration image library or in my modern design blog
