Modern Philadelphia
2Modern Design Talk is going to take you on a little tour across the United States, looking for the best in modern lifestyle resources by major metropolitan city. We are starting with Seattle and zig-zagging our way to New York. If you have any suggestions for our directory, which we will be constantly improving and adding, please let us know by providing comments to the posts.
Philadelphia, the largest city in Pennsylvia, has been ever-present in American history. A major center of the American Revolutionary War, and homes to such people as Edgar Allen Poe and Benjamin Franklin, Philadelphia continues to be ahead of its time throughout the ages. When it was first built, it was one of the first cities to be built on a grid system, and today boasts some of the best modern architecture in their newly re-developed downtown area. Whether you are looking for a piece of American history, a contemporary art museum, or a bustling night life, Philadelphia is the place for you.

Hi,
Philadelphia is indeed a great place for design junkies. Thanks for noticing! The design scene here is vibrant and diverse. But some of your modern furniture resources aren't actually in Philly, and there are plenty of excellent shops and designers here, including Minima, Iannone Design and MIO Culture. My blog about Philadelphia design has a long list.

Well I agree that Philadelphia is a great city for history and design. With the large influx of residentital and commercial building it has become a city with a modern focus. In 2007 I opened up Moderno showroom at the Marketplace Design Center to help all of us who love modern furniture, design spaces that will wow all our friends. Please be sure to check us out ! We are one of the few showrooms in the MPDC open to the public check out our website for more info on our consumer programs.
Best wishes , Joshua !
